The Common Place hosted their first A Common Mission Experience (ACME) program for the College of Wooster. Throughout the second week of October, 10 participants from the College of Wooster explored everything Philadelphia has to offer. In their time with us, they volunteered with Bartram’s Gardens, Beacon Church, Broad Street Ministries, and Grace Café’. From prepping the garden for winter to serving people experiencing homelessness- our week was packed!
In addition to all of the work we participated in, we also took time to read through the Franciscan Benediction. Every day we were intentional to sit down with each other to dialogue about poverty, injustice and systematic oppression. This allowed us to connect further with each other and grow deeper in our faith. Our time together was productive in our ability to physically volunteer, but it also brought all of us rest and rejuvenation to keep working for a better world.
