TCPS: Learning About Forgiveness

Women’s History Month:

As we celebrate and observe the contributions of women during the month of March, the scholars created a list of women to learn more about. The rest of this month will be geared toward understanding the impact women have had on our society.

Thank you, Ms. Batul:

Earlier this year, our Program Director traveled out to West Chester, PA to receive donations from a member of the community who found us through social media.  Ms. Batul visited our website and contacted us over the Christmas break to see if we were interested in receiving a variety of books from preschool-aged to middle school and adult reading levels.  Ms. Batul was very excited to donate books, school supplies, games, and office supplies to us.  She stated,” I want to make sure this reaches those children who will be able to benefit from the books my children were able to enjoy”.

Peer-Conflict Resolution Skills:

Our theme for this month’s Social-Emotional Learning activities is Peer Relationships. The scholars are learning how to develop caring pro-social relationships. We discussed the importance of making sure everyone feels welcomed and included, and the consequences of exclusionary behaviors. We also talked about ways we can offer help to others, making amends, and forgiveness. These conversations with the scholars reinforce the importance of being honest, taking responsibility for one’s mistakes, and demonstrating ways to resolve issues in peer conflict scenarios.

Chef Jason has been teaching the children culinary skills with great snacks. The scholars have enjoyed making Quesadillas, Barbeque and Buffalo wings, Chicken parm sliders, grilled cheese sandwiches, and smoothies.

Happy Birthday to our amazing staff members:

Lastly, Happy Birthday to our TCPS staff members Miss Myka and Miss Kas’mere!
