SWAT Returns to TCP Campus

The Southwest Arts & Technology Camp (SWAT) activities followed weekly Themes. Our theme for week 1 was Welcome to Southwest Arts and Technology Camp. We began with introductions and tours. Scholars got to know each other through icebreakers and team-building activities. Our trip for that week was to the escape room! The campers had a blast solving puzzles and finding clues to escape before the time ran out.

Week two was all about Disney! Our question of the week was: “If you could be any Disney character, who would you be?” Scholars played Disney charades, watched Disney movies, and wore their favorite Disney gear! The trip for week 2 was to Movie Grill. We saw “Lightyear” while enjoying lunch!

The following week our theme was Decades! We celebrated the 80s, 90s, and 00’ and 10’s. The scholars and Miss Huan dressed to impress in their favorite throwbacks! Medieval Times was our trip for the week and we had a blast. We cheered while enjoying our Medieval-style lunch!

Week 4 was all about Harry Potter! We kicked the week off with our very own sorting ceremony; each Scholar had a chance to sit under the sorting hat and find out which house they would represent for the week! Our themed field trip was to the Franklin Institute. We had the privilege of visiting the Harry Potter Experience! Scholars enjoyed storytelling, original props and costumes, and locations from around the wizard world. We had an absolute blast celebrating everything Harry Potter!

The following week’s theme was Wacky Week! The scholars spent the week being wacky with their outfits, crafts and dancing. Their trip was to FunPlex and they enjoyed their time in the water and riding rides with their peers!

Olympic Week started off with the scholars picking different countries to represent. We had a parade of nations around our campus. The counselors competed against campers for Dodgeball and SWAT trivia! The SWAT olympic games took place during Olympic Week. Scholars competed against each other with water balloon passes, hula hoop relay races, and I spy.

Our final week’s theme was The Last Dance, and we celebrated being together for 8 weeks! We will have a Spelling Bee for each group. Also, scholars will showcase their talent in our 2nd annual Talent Show. We will complete our SEL portfolio to show what we have learned and gained during summer camp. Our final trip was to Hershey Park! The scholars enjoyed being together!

Looking forward to SWAT next year!
