Hello from The Common Place Orchestra!
We are now in that special time of the fall when students and teachers alike are still feeling excited for the new school year, while also settling into practice and rehearsal routines and expectations. Our older students are doing a fantastic job of advancing their technique and learning new pieces each week, and our newest string players are getting comfortable with their bow holds, playing posture, and note-naming. The Common Place Orchestra is also growing by the day! We are proud to share that we are currently working with 59 talented string players each week.
Our Saturday orchestra rehearsals have been going really well, and attendance and participation has been strong each week. Due to our large number of students and wide range of levels, we have been splitting the group into two ensembles. Dr. Joe has been working with the older musicians on Deck The Halls, Christmas Vignettes, and the theme from Star Wars, along with a few other pieces.Mrs. Nellie is working with our beginner students on D major scale with fun rhythms, Tango & Cha Cha, and Open String Fiesta! In addition to being a fun, challenging way to start off the weekend, these rehearsals give our students a wonderful opportunity to refine their teamwork and leadership skills through playing music.
Our next performance is scheduled for Sunday, December 18th at 5:00pm at The Common Place. Stay tuned for more information about this event!
