New Spirit Community Presbyterian Church was featured in the February 6, 2016 issue of the Philadelphia Tribune. You can read the article here. Here is an excerpt from the article below:
“Another turning point was 2013, when Wayne Presbyterian Church assumed ownership of New Spirit’s building at 58th Street and Chester Avenue. The site was converted into an education and community outreach center, now called The Common Place.
Since then, New Spirit has had a home at the Common Place, a place it shares with other outreach efforts that include an after-school program and Turning Points for Children, a social service agency whose work includes support for struggling parents.
“I sit on the board of Common Place and part of my duties is to get people working together,” said New Spirit Senior Pastor Christopher Holland. “I do parenting, fathering groups — working with fathers who are trying to be better dads. [And] we have some members that work for the after-school program. They are tutors. Even though we are in different organizations, this thing can work only if we are working together.”
