On Saturday, May 4th, we were excited to bring our Southwest Philadelphia-styled Common Worship Experience (CWE) to Wayne Presbyterian Church. The Chapel was filled with people from the Wayne and SW Philly areas ready to worship in unity with each other.
The youth-led service began with an acoustic praise and worship music set. After prayer and welcoming attendees, Peter Grim unveiled our new video about TCP’s vision and mission for Southwest Philadelphia. Children from the Afterschool Enrichment Program (Scholars), Cornerstone Christian Academy (CCA), and the TCP Orchestra, and other children from the community showcased their talents through singing, liturgical readings, prayer, and playing stringed instruments. Their presentation was a true culmination of the hard work they put in every day at The Common Place. Pastor Cean James of Grace Christian Fellowship, spoke to about how we are to use our talents and passions to be a blessing to our communities and the body of Christ, using the Matthew 21:18-22 as his text. After the worship service, attendees gathered in the connector of WPC for fellowship and a meal catered by Ms. Anne Horsey.
The Common Worship Experience is a youth-led quarterly worship service usually held in Southwest Philly at The Common Place. In addition to our mission serve SW Philly children and their families through educational programming, social service collaboration, and faith formation, CWE aims to bring worshipping communities together. Understanding that it may not feasible at times for those in Wayne to make it to Southwest Philadelphia on a Sunday evening, we took CWE on the road to help bring the SW Philly and Wayne, PA communities together to share in worship, a meal, and fellowship.
