Black History Month at TCP

Happy February! The Scholars have been working on many activities, focusing on Black History Month and what this important time means to the scholars. Every day, our students learn about an African American that helped to change history. One person that stood out to them was George Crum, a worldwide favorite snack creator which was potato chips. The Scholars were able to create their own potato chips!

We also bought back our scholar Dollars for the Scholars. Every two weeks the scholars get paid for good behavior, kindness, helpfulness, and teamwork. Scholar Dollars also help students count money, learn personal responsibility, and engage new financial skills. Once a year, The Common Place hosts the Scholar Dollar Store so that students can purchase something using their Scholar Dollars.

Finally, Scholars learned about health and wellness and how important it is to stay fit and eat healthy foods. Students learned that some of their favorite foods are also healthy options!
