TCP Chosen to Represent the 1619 Project

The TCP Scholars are pleased to announce that we have been selected for the 1619 Project Education Network. These activities for after-school educators give various entry points into exploring multimedia components and text excerpts from The 1619 Project in
order to spark students’ creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and media literacy skills. Each activity is designed for facilitation across one or two 45-minute sessions.

The 1619 Project launched in August 2019 with a special issue of The New York Times Magazine, including essays and creative works by journalists, historians, and artists. The project illuminates the legacy of slavery in the contemporary United States and highlights the contributions of Black Americans to every aspect of American society.
